Implementing Standards in Physical Education

My goals, paramount to all others in Physical Education is to facilitate students to become engaged in lifelong fitness and to become physically educated individuals.

A physically educated individual:

bullet

Demonstrates competency in many movements forms and proficiency in a few movement forms.

bullet

Applies movement concepts and principles to the learning and development of motor skills.

bullet

Exhibits a physically active lifestyle.

bullet

Achieves and maintains a health-enhancing level of physical fitness.

bullet

Demonstrates responsible personal and social behavior in physical activity settings.

bullet

Understands that physical activity provides opportunities for enjoyment, challenge, self-expression, and social interaction.

All curriculum units and lessons should address one or more content and performance standards.  When these standards are addressed and met, students receive the best opportunity to become a physically educated individual.
