My name is James Richard Gilmore and I was born and raised in Pacifica, California.  Pacifica is a little beach town fifteen miles south of San Francisco and just north of Half Moon Bay.  My family and I moved to our house in Pacifica just after I was born in the summer of 1978.  My immediate family consists of my two older brothers, John and Jason, my older sister, Julie, and my mother and father, Judy and Glen (see photo below).

I attended Terra Nova High School where I was a three sport letterman in football, basketball, and baseball.  When I graduated from Terra Nova with honors in 1996, I still dreamed of playing football at a higher level, so I continued my academic career at the College of San Mateo in San Mateo, California.  After playing football for one season my financial situation forced me to make one of the most difficult decisions in my entire life; I had to decide between continuing to play football or continuing to go to school.  I selected to continue to go to school and give up football.  My college career was just now starting to pick up speed.

My schooling continued at Skyline College in San Bruno, California.  Motivated by my desire to attend a big university, I finished my requirements for my Associates of Art degree in Liberal Arts in a year and a half.  From there, I was accepted at San Diego State University and my goal of attending a big university had been reached.  I moved to San Diego in the spring of 1998 and graduated in May of 2001.  Immediately after graduation I enrolled in the credential program, again at San Diego State.  I was striving to be a Physical Education Teacher and I wanted to coach either football or baseball.  This leads me to where I am now, a 23 year-old graduate from San Diego State with my entire future ahead of me as an effective and efficient physical educator.
